ON YOUR SIDE GOES ON-LINE TO FIND DEALS AND GARDENING!?

Greetings to all following a wonderful and much-needed vacation for my family. We did alot of traveling around the Midwest (..”exotic” locations according to my husband!) but also took time to relax a bit and plant our first grown-up garden! It’s something we both helped with as kids but rediscovering the joy of watching things you lovingly put into the ground, quickly sprout; is more fun than we realized! I’ll let you know how it goes and suggestions are certainly welcomed!

I’m also back on our “On Your Side” search for money-saving deals. This time it’s taking me to the internet, where searching can lead to all sorts of savings. A few viewers recently e-mailed to complain about shopping websites asking for special promotional codes to get the deal. If you don’t already have the code there’s a simple step to finding it: go to Google and type in the words “promotion codes” and the name of the website where you’re shopping. We tried it by Googling “promotion code” and “Borders Books.” We ended up with $10 off the price of an audio-book we’d been searching for– what a deal!

And if you’d rather print, instead of clip your favorite coupons; I found some new sites to check out: www.coupons.com or www.smartsource.com share pages of printable grocery coupons. However both sites will ask you to download some special software. It’s free to do and helps verify the source when the coupon prints. Also, one of our viewers e-mailed about this site: www.freestuffonline.com
and says she is using this to get and try free samples; sometimes regular sized items! She also writes the products often come with coupons, so if she likes what she tries; the coupon gets her a deal on the next purchase.
Thanks for continuing to share some of your great, smart, money-saving ideas. We’ll do the same as we move into summertime in Wisconsin!

Teri
